Jochen Werne, born in Waldshut in 1971, holds the positions of authorised officer of the Bankhaus August Lenz & Co. AG. and head of the departments of marketing, business development, product management, treasury and payment services.
Prior to his academic chapters, which saw him take up the study of economics at the University of Passau, the Johann-Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt a. M., the Helsinki School of Economics and recently at Oxford University, the marketing and banking specialist completed a two-year stint in the German Navy as navigator on the training tall ship ‘Gorch Forck‘.
He then went on to work in the field of global investment banking at Bankers Trust Alex. Brown International and at Deutsche Bank AG, to name but a few. In 2001, he joined the financial services department of Accenture before moving on to the Munich-based Bankhaus August Lenz & Co. AG in 2003, heading various departments within the bank to date. He was instrumental in the transformation of Bankhaus August Lenz & Co. AG. into a driver of innovation within digitalisation, resulting in many awards received by the bank.
He is part of the innovation leadership team of the European Banking Group, member of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research Initiative ‘Learning Systems’ - a platform for artificial intelligence, member of the expert board of Management Circle as well as member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs ‘Chatham House’. He is a keynote speaker at various banking and innovation conferences as well as author and co-author of several textbooks and articles.
He is also honorary ambassador of the Peter Tamm sen. Foundation of the International Maritime Museum Hamburg and member of the German Association for Maritime & Naval History. He is co-founder of the NGO Mission4Peace and the founder of the Global Offshore Sailing Team which, through expeditions as far afield as both polar regions, is dedicated to the development of international diplomatic relations, to the encouragement of international dialogue and to promoting environmental initiatives. For his efforts, he has received repeated international recognition.
