The Security & Identity Challenges of Modern IT: Agile IT & DevOps Done Right & Secure

Efficiently Mitigating Security Risks in Today’s IT With DevOps, Containers, Microservices, and Cloud Deployments
Traditional IT appears being fairly simple to secure, when compared to today’s reality in IT. Defined perimeters, DMZs (demilitarized zones), only every now and then a new server, applications statically bound to servers: Applying static security controls, starting with firewalls and down to the access controls and accounts on servers or a fairly static approach for session management via jump hosts is rather straightforward.
Unfortunately, reality is different. There are good reasons to become more agile, to shift to DevOps paradigms, to implement a CI/CD chain, to run services in hybrid cloud environments (or wherever else). However, from a security perspective as well as an identity perspective, this is an entirely different scenario. Even worse, it is not that you get rid of the old stuff, the legacy IT. Businesses have both and will continue to have both for years, maybe tens of years (and lift & shift to the cloud alone will not change anything).
Security and Identity have to evolve for supporting today’s IT. This requires a security angle on DevOps, which you might name DevSecOps. Such approach includes security and identity as a service, which has been referred to in the past as Application Security Infrastructures. It requires adequate protection of both the DevOps tools chain and the applications that run in containers, that are constructed in microservices architectures, that go hybrid. It is about the other SaaS (Security as a Service), the other IDaaS (Identity as a Service) differently from IAM provided as SaaS service, it is about enhancements to traditional PAM (Privileged Access Management). It is about concepts, organization, and tools. This webinar will look at what to do, how this embraces and extends traditional security and IAM approaches, and how it links to concept of modern IT such as the Identity Fabric. It will provide answer to questions such as:
- IT is changing – what is the security and identity impact of DevOps, containers, hybrid cloud, and microservices?
- Identity and Security Services – the return of Application Security Infrastructures? What is the same, what is different?
- Identity Fabrics – how do they align and support these changing requirements?
- What to protect in the new world – DevOps toolchain, new services, what else?
- PAM for DevOps – what is different to traditional PAM?
- How to simplify security and identity, when the infrastructure is becoming hybrid and increasingly complex?
Martin Kuppinger, Principal Analyst at KuppingerCole, will look at the changes organizations are facing today, the basics of Identity and Security Services, the role Identity Fabrics play, and what will change in PAM.
Andre Priebe, CTO of iC Consult, will dive into the details of securing DevOps environments and shifting to DevSecOps and talk about how to efficiently set up security and identity for the mixed IT infrastructures of today and how to protect DevOps, at all levels. Can’t attend the live session? While businesses race ahead with digital transformation, security and identity management are often being left behind. The complexity of modern organizations of all sizes has undermined the traditional concepts of privileged access management (PAM) and privileged account usage. Help desks and IT security teams are often too busy and understaffed to be able to give PAM the attention it deserves.
Come to the place where the Digital Transformation is happening. The European Identity & Cloud Conference, held from May 12-15, 2020, offers a mixture of best practice discussions, visionary presentations, and networking opportunities with a future-oriented community. More than 800 thought leaders, leading vendors, analysts, executives, and end-users get together in Munich to be inspired by a list of world-class speakers.
Attend this KC Master Class to learn how to protect privileged accounts of your company. Based on many years of experience, KuppingerCole Analysts will deliver practical knowledge on password management and automatic rotation, enforcement of the least privilege principle, vulnerability identification, risk management, central analysis, session management and monitoring, and efficient, comprehensive auditing. In four chapters, you will receive a multi-channel training including interactive online sessions, up-to-date research documents and an all-day workshop with final exam at the European Identity & Cloud Conference 2020 in Munich, Germany. Step-by-step KuppingerCole Analysts will turn you into a PAM Master that meets and exceeds privileged access management challenges of the 2020s!
