This panel will present a smart, effective and compliant way to identify and verify unknown companies in digital interactions. Such a solution is required for the U.S. pharmaceutical supply chain, as the Drug Supply Chain Security Act obliges every dispenser, pharmacy, clinic and wholesaler to request electronically a product verification at the original manufacturer in case they have a returned or suspicious drug package in their hand. As there are tens of thousands trading partners on the U.S. market and each needs to have a valid license to be authorized as a trading partner, a digital solution to identify and verify each of them as authorized is required. A group of companies came together in an industry-wide pilot to develop and standardize a solution that can be adopted by the whole industry. Providing an open environment to the industry to develop interoperable solutions and architecture securing future supply chain interactions based on credentialing technology, the Open Credentialing Initiative was founded by the pilot members.
The panel participants worked on pilot projects and are part of the current process to drive industry wide adoption in a productive environment. The group will discuss the pilot project outcome; the productive solution and why Digital Identities in combination with Verifiable Credentials are considered as an innovative game changer for future supply chain interactions.
