Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley

Jane Siegel is a Senior Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University’s Silicon Valley campus where she teaches courses about IT-enabled Service Management and participates in research to define meaningful, useful measures of service performance and quality.

She is a founding co-director of CSMIC and is working with industry, academic, and standards-setting organizations to develop the Service Measurement Index (SMI) to support potential adopters of public, private, and hybrid cloud services for a range of cloud-based services. CSMIC’s work is being made available to the public and the initial framework of important cloud characteristics was published in September, 2011.
