KuppingerCole Analysts, partnering with SAMI Consulting, conducted a futures study to forecast the digital business and cybersecurity landscape by 2033, resulting in eight strategic recommendations for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs). Employing the SAFIRE Scenarios methodology, workshops were held with research analysts, KuppingerCole's Cybersecurity Council, and Cyberevolution conference attendees. This study emphasizes the importance of resilience, cyber hygiene, collaboration, and the evolving role of AI. CISOs must champion resilience and recovery, maintain basic cyber hygiene, understand diverse threat actors, and collaborate to secure supply chains. They must also recognize AI as both a risk and a tool, adopt holistic, user-centric security approaches, elevate identity security, and actively shape regulatory landscapes. Each recommendation includes specific actions, underscoring the need for scenario planning, incident response readiness, collaboration, AI evaluation, workforce development, and holistic human resource approaches. This multifaceted, proactive strategy aims to fortify organizations against varied and evolving future cyber threats.
