At Facebook Dan leads global initiatives on privacy and the future of the data- driven economy, with a special focus on applying innovative design-driven methods to policy problems. He leads Facebook’s Trust, Transparency and Control Lab, which was piloted in Berlin in March 2017 and which has now brought initiatives to Paris, Brussels, Sao Paolo and Hong Kong. He is the EMEA lead on Data for Good at Facebook.

Before joining Facebook, Dan taught at University College Dublin’s Innovation Academy for several years, scaling PhD, Masters and undergraduate programmes in Innovation and Design Thinking, in addition to developing a new practice consulting for industry developing innovation programmes to solve pressing business challenges. His PhD research focused on how regulators work in political environments, including their use of innovative public affairs and communication tools. He specialised in advertising and competition regulation, spending time working and researching at several regulators in the UK and Ireland including the OFT and the ASA.
