Generative AI has made impersonation scalable, convincing and cheap. Attackers can clone a voice, fake a face on a live video call and talk a helpdesk into resetting a password, and every step looks legitimate to the systems involved. Most organizations have invested in strong authentication, but the attacks have moved to the moments around it: the new hire who was never real, the executive who was never on the call, the “locked-out employee” who passes a recovery check.
This pre-event webinar examines where trust breaks across onboarding and KYC, workforce identity, recovery processes and approval workflows, and what identity assurance needs to deliver in response. It also looks at how deepfake defenses are offered in the market, from standalone detectors to fraud platforms and identity verification suites, and how to choose based on where deception enters your business.
The session previews the discussions at the Nordics Identity Impact Day on 9 February 2027 in Gothenburg, where the AI, Identity & Trust track takes these questions further with practitioners.
Alejandro Leal, Lead Analyst, KuppingerCole Analysts, will explain how AI is exposing assumptions built into current identity architectures and where traditional controls fall short. Drawing on his research on AI-driven impersonation, deepfakes, and the erosion of trust, he will map the highest-risk points in the identity lifecycle, compare the main approaches to deepfake defense, and provide practical, vendor-neutral guidance on where to act first.
Sabina Callan, IAM Platform Manager, Resurs Bank, and John Erik Setsaas, Principal Advisor and Founder, Setsaas Trust Advisory, will bring both practical and strategic perspectives on digital identity and identity security. Sabina will share her experience in modern IAM, Zero Trust adoption, and building resilient identity services within a financial institution, while John Erik will provide insights from more than 25 years of experience in digital identity, identity verification, fraud prevention, and the evolving role of AI in both enabling and combating fraud.
