Hundreds of keynotes and sessions in six tracks are awaiting you. While the agenda is already far developed, there still will be some additions. Anyway, time to have a look at the agenda. I did and selected ten favorite sessions from that long list.

In the morning of June 4th, one of the pre-conference sessions is the EIC2024 Decentralized ID Deployment Bootcamp. The first part of it is about Decentralized ID Basics, Trends & Adoption: Strategic Insights Sprint for Executives. Run by Dominik Beron, CEO of walt.id, Drs. Jacoba C. Sieders, independent consultant, and me, we will look at where decentralized identity stands and how we expect this to evolve. The session will provide you with the understanding about everything you need to know about decentralized identity for the many other conference sessions around this topic, including eIDAS 2.0 and the EUDI wallet. A great start to the conference and a good reason for travelling in early.

In the afternoon of June 4th, you must not miss the keynote of Dr. Moritz Heuberger, Advisor to the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and Community, on eIDAS 2.0 in Germany: Progress, Impact, Challenges. With the European Parliament just recently voting for eIDAS 2.0, it is now about making it a reality.

Another highlight session on this subject is the panel on Latest on eIDAS Legislation and What it Means for People, Business and Government. Here, Dr. Rob Brand from the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, Dr. Moritz Heuberger, Vedran Lalic, Head of Office at European Parliament, and Viky Manaila, Trust Services Director at Intesi Group, will look at the eIDAS regulations and its impact.

Another important theme at EIC is what I have named “AIdentity”, the intersection of AI and Identity. One of the sessions you should attend is Redefining Human Identity in the AI Era: From Digital Evolution to AI Integration. Dr. Scott David will lead a panel including Joe Andrieu, Joni Brennan, Wenjing Chu, Lynn Parker Dupree, Anil John, Nick Mothershaw, and Drummond Reed. AIdentity is one of the big challenges to address, with digital doubles (or twins) acting on our behalf.

One more session around Decentralized Identity you must not miss is The Wallets we Want. There will be wallets. But will this be the wallets we (the consumers) want? Listen to Daniel Goldscheider from the OpenWallet Foundation, Anil John, Technical Director of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Paolo de Rosa, Policy Officer at the European Commission, and Dr. Pramod Varma, CTO of the EkStep Foundation and former Chief Architect of Aadhaar.

The intersection of traditional CIAM and future decentralized identity will be the topic of the panel Panel: Decentralized Identity for Onboarding and CIAM. Daniel Buchner, Nick Lambert, Rob Otto, and Nick Price will look at how CIAM can benefit from decentralized identity.

Martin Sandren, IAM Product Lead at IKEA, will talk on June 6th about Passkeys in the Enterprise. This is a talk from practice about passkeys, a means for authenticating to services that is becoming increasingly popular.

Another brilliant speaker is Emilie van der Lande. She will talk about AI's Shadow Realm: Navigating the Ethical Abyss. Her talk is about the multifaceted ethical, social and technical challenges that emerge as AI systems become increasingly integral to our daily lives.

As many know, I’m an advocate of policy-based access control (PBAC), authorization, and just-in-time access. In the panel Why Authorization Standardization is Imperative, Allan Foster, David Brossard, and Gerry Gebel will talk about standardization for authorization and how to finally deliver on the promise that XACML once held.

While EIC 2024 is at the forefront of the global Identity Management evolution, you will also find a lot of down-to-earth topics on the agenda. One I want to highlight is Best Practices for Resynchronizing AD and Entra ID After Forest Recovery. Jorge de Almeida Pinto will talk about this. In an age of ever-increasing cyberattacks, we must prepare for disaster. Thus, we must improve our recovery skills.

EIC 2024, as always, stands for both though leadership and best practices. Have a look at the agenda and don’t miss the prime discount – book latest on March 8th to benefit from the special price. EIC, as always, will be a fully hybrid event. If you ever can’t join in Berlin or not for the full four days, you still can join EIC and enjoy the great sessions and speakers.
