The discussion revolves around the challenges and opportunities associated with the transition of identity management systems, particularly within the context of SAP customers. Key figures, Lisa from Fressnapf Maxizoo and Andreas Zickner from MediaMarktSaturn, approach the subject with humor yet urgency, providing insights on the impending need for companies to adapt to changes in identity management technologies. They emphasize the importance of preparing for the end of support for certain SAP services by 2030, advocating for gradual adaptation to modern systems like Entra ID. Andreas, described as having foresight akin to an oracle, discusses the intricacies of these transitions, emphasizing the need for businesses to act proactively. They stress the value in beginning this transformation now, highlighting that it offers a chance to modernize and streamline operations. Both express empathy for the workload and complexities faced by customers but advocate for viewing these changes as opportunities for growth and innovation. The key takeaway is encouraging businesses to anticipate future changes and remain resilient amidst inevitable shifts in service and technology landscapes.
Okay, good afternoon everyone. So glad that you could join us here. I'm Lisa. I work at Fressnapf Maxizoo. Maybe you guys know us. If you have pets, we have everything that pet needs. We're the market leader for pet retail. And actually at Fressnapf, just to let you know, we bring our dogs to work. I couldn't bring my real ones because they're not really anti-allergic. So I brought this one. This is Julina. Say hi to Julina. It's her first talk at an ESC conference. She's a bit nervous. So we'll put her down over here so she can have a good look. Stay. Good girl. Very nice.
Okay, so let's start. We're here this afternoon on a very, very special mission. On my day job, I am a senior IIM consultant, as is my colleague Andreas Zickner here from MediaMarktSaturn. But we also have another job description. We are mediums. Mediums. Not the ghost ones.
Not like, you know, listen to dead people or so. We are professional mediums. That means that we can actually talk to customers. Specifically SAP customers. What we're going to do in the next 12 minutes or so, the clock should actually probably start. That would help. What we're going to do is we're going to conjure SAP customers to discuss with us a very, very dramatic topic and news, which Andreas actually has brought for us. Because actually he is also kind of an oracle for IIM. Not the oracle oracle. The other one.
You know, Delphi, Greek, stuff like that. He has like the foresight in IIM. And what he has brought for us, we will then discuss with our customers. And so without any further ado. Okay. Thank you so much. Warm welcome from my side. I'm really happy you are here.
And hey, you don't believe her. You think we are cringe? You think we are cringe? You should better believe her. Lisa has a PhD in astrophysics. And the Pentagon does listen to her. Okay. Be careful. So I give you a second chance. You have the opportunity to raise your hand. And within the last session, only a few people raised their hand because it was a question about SAP.
Oh, bad question. I ask you a better question. Whom of you has an IGA or identity management or an IIM system in his company? Please raise your hand.
Yeah, that's better. That's better. I have absolutely great news for you.
Yeah, Quest is going to sell one identity. That's cool, huh? I have even better news for you. Oracle acquired SailPoint. Yeah.
Well, now this is a little bit more history channel. Who remembers what happened to solutions acquired by Oracle? You got it. You got it. You got it. Yeah. Can't just go off script like that. We didn't talk about this. Come on. I like the guys from SailPoint and One Identity. You can't do this. Okay. I was caught in 2033 because 2032, there was a little bit time switch. You remember? Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Let's go. Let's go today. How about that? SAP is going to say, okay, well, nice try. We just wipe it out. End of maintenance. We don't like it anymore. How about that? No. No. No. No.
No. That can't be. Do our customers know about that?
Well, just ask them. Just, hey, go on. Ask them. Sorry. This is a bit more intense than I actually thought about. Yeah. Okay. But we're going to ask our customers how this actually works. I'll tell you, we're a professional medium, so we're going to conjure them at this moment. And because we are not, like, scribbling down things when they tell us something, we're going to ask them, and we're going to put on a fresh slide. And when someone wants to tell us something, they will just, you know, I will just put it on the PowerPoint slide. Right? Because we're professionals here. All right.
So let's do this. I actually have someone.
Oh, they seem nervous. They seem nervous. Let's see. I told you. Didn't I tell you? They don't know about this. Yeah.
Well, it was just a blog post. Okay. Best out of three. Best out of three. All right. Let's see what they will say. I have more there. Give them a fresh slide. Let's see what happens. I'm sorry. I'm not happy I'm right here, but honestly. Funny one. I knew that. See? I actually thought I'd talk to someone who just implemented this last year. Best out of three. Okay. So give it another fresh slide. Hey. Yeah. I'm really sorry. This is awful. Right? This is really, really awful. But honestly, they're kind of piling up right now, so we'll just give them some more space.
You know, listen in. What comes more? Because let's just see. Let's just see. Fresh slide.
Well, okay. Okay. Someone heard about it. DSAG technology days, right? That's our stuff.
You know, we're the mediums for the DSAG. Probably read it on the first slide. Something about entry idea. There was something. I can't really recall it. Let's see. Maybe we can get. It can't be important. Yeah. Let's see if we can get back to that later. Let's get the rest of some space. Very nice. They heard it from our work group. Yes. Yes.
Well, we communicated. What's that? Yeah. Well. Unbelievable. I thought you said 2027. Now we have time to 2030. I'm confused. What does that mean? It's always in slices. You get it in slices. Okay. So it's end of maintenance 2027. And it's an extended maintenance. And that's ending 2030. Okay. That's not much.
Everybody, it's important, the difference between end of maintenance and end of life. There's a difference. End of life means it's killed. End of maintenance means, well, you just get no support packages anymore. That's true. You're still paying your support. That's cool. Yeah. Great contract. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just remember when you're signing your contract with what was sold. Yeah. Okay. You got it. Okay.
Well, if Martin says we have time until 2030, I believe in. Yeah. Okay. Next slide. I can totally relate to that because it starts to come back to me, but I don't really remember it, to be honest.
But Bobby, let's just keep going. Yeah.
Ooh, what's that one? Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
Lisa, Lisa, Lisa. That's going the right direction. I kind of feel for them, to be honest.
No, no, no, no, no. Honestly, it sucks, right? Do you have a financial system? Do you managing a financial system? No. Not. Do you manage a financial system with your GSL? Yeah.
Well, thought about audit requirements. That's a cool answer for it. Solving audit requirements. You're getting a red flag. All right. I still have a couple. Let's give them the space to talk. All right now. I didn't expect that. Sounds cool. Honestly. Maybe there were the AEC 2024. Not bad. Not bad.
Oh, they have an addendum, but I'm not supposed to write it there. They're also looking at SharePoint and One Identity just to make it up for you guys, you know. Yeah. Okay. Fresh slide for the next ones. There were rumors, weren't there? There were, but they didn't really confirm it, right?
Yeah, well, SAP was talking about a long time that they don't like it anymore. Some picked it up and some did it and they're probably the lucky ones now. Yeah. Damn it. Okay. I have one more. I have one more. Let's see what they say. Ouch. Yeah. I'm pretty sure that Bjarke before said that they have a different IDM, Cloud Identity Services IDM. That's not an identity management tool, right? Not a complete one.
Well, you should really distinguish between what is good marketing and what is real IAM, okay? So, you better look at it before on the small package on that. But there should be something else, right?
Wait, wait. Oh, that's funny. I have someone who wants to talk to us. Benjamin Stecher, I don't know. Maybe some guys of you know that. He's actually, he's working with us too in the DSAG. And he has, oh, wait, I just put him through to you. Let's see. He has something on Cloud Identity Services. Yeah.
Yes, this theme group. And thanks for reminding me, Benjamin. This is so cool now.
Because, yeah, so far everyone knows that. They're increasingly mandatory for managing IDs and SAP Cloud apps.
Actually, with a new AI for SAP, they just recently announced that now you really need to do this. Otherwise, you will not be able to use your SAP AI, overall SAP tools.
But, yeah, I know, Benjamin. I'll try to put it through. In this theme group, they put up a 60-point deficit list, identified. That is still kind of missing, you know, from the whole story. If you want to implement it in all the way that SAP actually announced it last year.
But, okay. Yeah, sure. I'll tell them to get back to you if they have more questions for that. Now I have Janice as well. Janice Rondoff. Anyone know him?
Yes, yes, I know. You have a theme group on...
No, no, wait. I'll let him tell you himself. He has that on that Entra stuff.
Yeah, here. You see? SAP named him as Entra's recommended successor to SAP ID. And there was something about Entra ID. That too. Yes. His theme group, they put out this questionnaire, which had like over 100 open questions still unanswered, unfortunately. But increasingly, things got actually better. So now they have a lot of webinars from Microsoft for SAP customers to let them know what Entra ID is capable of and how things are actually evolving. And that's actually really nice. And the customers also share their own experiences with Entra ID. You forgot something.
You forgot something important. No, no. Those are the two theme groups. No. Hey. Hey. Hello. I told you I'm too busy for that. I can really relate to the people who are too busy to think about, damn it, I need a new IAM tool and I have to do something about it. How would you feel? Okay.
Yes, yes, wait. I'll just put it on the screen myself because that's actually much easier.
Yes, that's my theme group. I have a theme group for SAP IDM migration. What we are actually doing is... How can I forget that? We are exchanging with IAM customers. So we are looking for people who actually went through a migration or who are starting right now.
Because, well, we have this one customer. I don't exactly know who that was. I didn't catch the name. But some already changed that. And they are exchanging with us their views, what they learned from that experience, actually. And that's really, really great. We also have consultants and vendors telling us what's new to them, what do they try to put out there to help SAP IDM customers to actually get through the whole experience. So that's really... I like doing that because I feel that in the end you should empower our customers to find their best solution. Because this is really tricky.
What is this? Maybe you show it to everybody. It's my toolbox.
Ah, it's your toolbox. Yes, it's my toolbox. What are you doing with this toolbox? I like it. You like it? Yes. I've had it for very, very many years. Okay.
Honestly, it's so practical. I want to explain to them why I want to hold on to them. It's okay. You want to... Okay. Okay. Hold. Breathe. Calm down. Okay. We just talked about it.
Hey, we just talked about it. It's gone. It's going away. But it's here. I still have it with me. You can see that, guys, right? You can see it. It's here. It's real. It's gone. But I've built stuff with it.
Yes, that's cool. I've built stuff with it. You have. It's actually so practical. You know that?
I mean, maybe some of you have this toolbox too. You can do all sorts of amazing stuff with it. It's so nice. You can build whatever you want.
I mean, it's SAP, right? You can always do that. And even if you have people... Lisa. Lisa. Let me finish. Even if you have people who do not want to work with you, let me finish. Lisa. Lisa. Lisa. Lisa. Let me finish. Even if you have people who do not want to adapt their processes, and you can tell them, I don't care, I'll just build it in my little toolbox, even if it doesn't belong here. Even if it's not IAM, I can still do that. It's really, really cool. So you tell me why I should let go of that.
I mean, yeah, well, it's end of life, but who cares? You see other customers who continue it. I'll just keep it. Okay. You're sure?
Well, you convinced me otherwise. You can give it a try. Okay. What are your main arguments? Give me a try. Okay. Okay. Calm down. Calm down. Okay. Okay. So did you ever thought about something that this vendor gave a gift to you? It's a great gift. How many years of experience you have with identity management? A little bit over 11. Okay. Now imagine you get the chance to build it fresh. Okay.
Yeah, well, that does sound kind of cool. Yeah. So there are a couple of things in there that are really outdated and not that nice. Okay.
You know, well, it was very expensive, your toolbox, over the years, 11 years. That's true. But in the beginning, I got it for free because I'm an SP customer. Yeah. But it was really expensive over the years. It was expensive. That's true.
Now, well, does really everything work well in there? Really well.
Hey, hey, hey. I know. I know. I know your toolbox. It is transparent. It's not. Yeah. But you can't hide it.
Well, that's true. Well, there is some stuff in there. And some things are not. Okay. Your processes. All your processes are really great and fine and working. You have no complaints. All audit requirements are cool. You can integrate AI. You have recertification. AI? I don't think it knows what that is. Recertification? SOT? Recertification.
Now, we do that all the time. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So for the Ma strobe application, how about the chance… Now you have the chance… You go together with Mark Kuppinger, you go to the management, convinced them about the strategy. And maybe you get some money? Management is probably going to tell me… Entri.ID is the successor. We have entri.ID. We have licensing. It means we have an IAM problem solved, right? What do I do with that? Okay.
Is this strategy in your company? Well, Microsoft is a strategy, definitely. Okay. Okay. So that's a real realistic thing that can happen. Did you count the money?
Well, not yet. But honestly, when? I don't have the time. Again.
I mean, everything you're telling me sounds nice. Okay. I get that there's old stuff in there and that I could actually probably better and look at my processes. But when am I supposed to do that?
You know, new systems keep coming up every day. They want to be connected with us. They want things.
I mean, I started this thing once. How am I supposed to do the whole thing again at some point? Okay. I just don't know where to start. Can you tell me?
Well, the point is you start small. But the first thing is we agree you have to move. It's just a question when you're going to move. By end of 2030, you have to move. Okay. Okay. Okay. When was the last time you made a movement with your flat? Two years ago. Two years ago. What did you do when you moved within your flat, Lisa, before you were moving? I tried to unclutter a bit. It didn't work out. Yeah. Yeah. Did you ever move a full trash bin from one flat to another flat? I hope not. Yeah.
Well, I didn't do it. It was that guy was putting that trash bin into the box. I wasn't. But I was taking it out and I was surprised. So did you ever do that?
No, you didn't do that. No, I didn't. Okay. The first step is you're going to clean up your, well, you know, this one.
You can, well, you have to clean up. Yeah, you're right. You don't really need that.
Yeah, you're right. You can clean up with it right now because you're using it. I know it. Okay. So you're telling me if I take a bit of time, every step at a time, I can unclutter a bit and I'll get, and I'll get better. And then I'll probably see some new, new things that I can do. Yeah. It's a chance.
Lisa, it is a chance. Well, you might be right on that. Yeah. Okay. Right now you have time. Look at these others. They had same point with Oracle. That's getting a tough schedule. I tell you in 2033.
Honestly, why, why do you have this picture of rocks behind here? It actually feels me. It makes me feel cluttered. What is your? I don't know. Who was missing? Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. You have to trust. You have to believe. Lisa. Come on. Let's climb that wall. Okay. Maybe. Let's climb that wall. No. We have opportunities. Okay. So you're telling me where I see a lot of rocks and a lot of challenges, I have opportunities and I need to trust and I need to try out. Damn it. I hate it when you try it. Do you see that path? It's nice green. Really? Try it. All right.
I'm just, I'm going to give it a try. Okay. I'm going to give it a try.
You are, you're here with me and you will witness this, that I will put down this pool of pool rocks for now. Yeah. Give it a try.
I, I, I, I won't steal it. I won't steal it. Okay. I won't steal it. Okay. It stays there. Take your time. Slowly. Slowly. Slowly. Slowly. And see. Okay. We're right on time, but I need half a minute as it is. We put on a bit of a show. I know it might've seemed funny to you at some point or another, and we understand that that was intended, of course. But honestly, everything that we did here, everything that we explained, all the discussions that we had are the, is everything that we learned from the customers that have SAP IDM that work with it.
Everything that we heard in the last year, mostly, or a bit before that we discussed with them. We are also SAP IDM customers, so we relate to that completely. And this is no joke. It is not a joke. We have over 1000 IAM customers who will have to migrate within the next years. And people are working very, very hard to make that possible. And from us, from the DSAG, we try to, to, to support that the best we can.
Our goal was to give you some sort of feeling for that emotion that a lot of customers, and not so many are here probably on the EIC, only a small bit, because others are lucky and they have an identity management that is still going to hold on. But the gist, the main gist of everything that we are learning as SAP IDM customers is who knows what the future holds for us.
And maybe it should all be our goal to design IAMs that are resilient enough that no matter what news Andreas has for you the next time and what might be true of them, will impact you as hard as it does many SAP IDM customers at this point.
