Joris Krijger (1991) works as an Ethics & AI specialist at the Dutch bank de Volksbank while also holding a Ph.D. position at the Erasmus University Rotterdam on that topic. He has a background in Economic Psychology (MA), Philosophy (MA), and Film and Literary Studies (BA), and studied in Glasgow, Buenos Aires, and Leiden. His graduation thesis on technology ethics and the financial crisis of 2008 was awarded a national thesis prize by the Royal Dutch Society of the Sciences. As an entrepreneur, he co-founded a prize-winning tech startup before starting the current Ph.D. project in combination with the Volksbank. Currently, he is doing research on the operationalization of ethical principles in organizational contexts and holds an Editorial Board Member position for Springer’s AI and Ethics Journal.
