John Peart

John Peart is Chief Executive of the UK Government’s Office for Digital Identities and Attributes (OfDIA), where he is accountable for the design and operational delivery of the UK’s digital verification services regime under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

At OfDIA, John has led the implementation of a technology-agnostic, standards-based approach to assuring the quality of digital identity services used across the UK economy.

His responsibilities include development and maintenance of the UK Digital Verification Services Trust Framework, covering identity proofing, verification, authentication, and attribute exchange

John led the creation of the trust framework’s conformity assessment scheme, aligned to ISO/IEC 17065. That scheme has now been recognised and accredited by the UK’s national accreditation body, the UK Accreditation Service. The scheme enables independent certification of digital identity services.

He also led delivery of the UK Government’s statutory register of trusted digital verification services. The register provides an authoritative, continuously updated view of certified and trusted digital identity services for relying parties.

Prior to working at OfDIA, John has worked in a number of digital policy and delivery roles across the UK Government, including at the Government Digital Service and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
