Ian Bailey

Ian Bailey was appointed as the Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Information Officer for the Justice Sector on Dec 11, 2017. Previously Ian was Assistant Deputy Minister for the Office of the Chief Information Officer and oversaw the delivery of all IT shared services for the BC Government and the Identity Management Program for citizens, businesses and public servants.

Ian has been a key contributor to Canada’s and British Columbia’s identity management standards and services for over 15 years and led the implementation of British Columbia’s digital identity services for all citizens. Most recently, Ian has provided executive leadership in the development of mobile and blockchain identity services.

After graduating from the University of Victoria with a degree in Computer Science, Ian spent 10 years developing software in the oil and gas industry, the Canadian Department of National Defense, and healthcare solutions for the Province of British Columbia. Since that time Ian has held many positions in the BC government developing, operating, and leading IT solutions.
