Peter Allor is the Senior Cyber Security Strategist for IBM Security. He has been instrumental in IBM's strategy and development for securing Critical Infrastructures, Central Government Operations and Certifications. He focuses on developing solutions that integrate the full spectrum of security operations within an organizations domain in support of business.
Prior to the role, Peter was managing vulnerability and incident coordination for IBM for the IBM X-Force. Prior to IBM acquiring Internet Security Systems (ISS), Peter was the Special Assistant to the CEO of ISS for working National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC) problem sets and assisted in forming the Information Technology - Sector Coordinating Council (IT-SCC) where he recently returned to the Executive Committee and Treasurer. As the former Operations Center Director, he ran the Information Technology - Information Sharing & Analysis Center (IT-ISAC) operations and brought coordination across the sector ISACs.
Peter is a Member, Board of Director of the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) and is the Chief Financial Officer for FIRST. Peter is President to the Industry Consortium for Advancement of Security on the Internet (ICASI). Peter is an Executive Committee Member of the IT Sector Coordinating Council (IT-SCC) and is the Treasurer for IT-SCC. A former Commissioner for the CSIS Cybersecurity Commission for the 44th Presidency he assisted in developing recommendations for the Public and Private Sectors to work collaboratively on Cyber Security.
Peter is a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army. He has Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix, a BS in Business Administration from Rollins College and is a Graduate of the US Army Command & General Staff College.
Allor is a “Certified SCADA Security Architect” working with customers and National governments on better securing industry sectors / critical infrastructures. He has presented on penetration testing of Industrial Control Systems to FIRST; the World Institute for Nuclear Security; and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Allor has spoken at numerous events on security, information sharing and cyber intelligence, including IEEE, IAEA for Nuclear Power Plant Security, Homeland Security for Networked Industries, GFIRST National Conferences, FIRST International Conferences, Infragard National Conferences, Forbes Corporate Security Forums, iSecuTech Taiwan, ISACA Singapore and for the Secret Service San Francisco and Chicago and FBI Regional Forums (internal). In 2005, Allor was presented with IT* Security Magazine’s Individual Innovation Award. He has participated in the US Army Senior Leader Program at West Point, NY on Cyber Security an invitational event and other major Defense Department Regional Forums.
