Rob Newby

Rob Newby studied Physics at the University of Bath, UK, before graduating and choosing a career in Security and Risk Management. He is now a governance, risk and compliance specialist with a background in data security and consultancy within Government, Finance and Telecoms in the UK and Europe. Rob is an independent CLAS consultant, currently advising CSC UK on risk and architecture within the UK Government’s Identity and Passport Service account.

Rob has also worked as a Principal Security Consultant at T-Systems, advising on governance and risk within the merger of T-mobile and Orange UK to form EE, the largest mobile telecoms entity in the UK; and the Principal Consultant at Symantec UK, where he provided governance and architectural advice around a DLP deployment for online betting company Betfair, and an antivirus replacement programme for travel agency Kuoni, spanning 56 countries. Prior to his work in consultancy, Rob worked as the Director of Product Management for a security software startup in Spain (Kinamik Data Integrity s.r.l.), UK Technical Services Director for 2 US data security companies operating in the UK (Vormetric and Ingrian, now part of SafeNet) and an enterprise security architect at Skandia Life.
