John Harrison

John Harrison is the CEO, of PIB-d Ltd, a joint-venture between the UK’s Higher Education sector (as represented by JISC and the University of Hertfordshire) and the founders of his original start-up, Edentity Ltd. PIB-d’s remit is to organise a pilot, in which a university will invite new students to choose a Personal Information Broker from a managed market, and then use their broker account to (i) link to, and communicate with, multiple counterparties, both organisations (initially the university) and other individuals (initially other students); and (ii) give explicit permission for the transmission of personal information (which may include validated attributes, such as qualifications, legal identity etc) to and between such counterparties. John is well known in the user-centric field in the UK, having led a number of studies and joint submissions, most recently the 2008 Work Group on User-Centric Identity (and Personal Information) Management, as sponsored by the Information Commissioner’s Office and the Technology Strategy Board.
