Ed Groell is Head of Mobile Banking and Executive Consultant at CGI Germany. He has lead strategic projects in the finance industry across different geographies, including payments projects for clients—such as implementing a mobile app dedicated to corporates and ensuring implementation of European Banking Authority recommendations—as well as projects to help clients comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Before joining CGI, Ed worked for a leading global payments provider in the travel industry, serving as a project manager and product manager in the payments and business intelligence areas. He led a variety of projects—from replacing an entire global virtual payment platform to defining the strategy for and integrating a new mobile payment solution. He also was responsible for a program to deliver a new customer-facing reporting platform in more than 40+ markets.
Ed is also facilitating trainings to reach certification of EU GDPR Foundation & Practitioner as well as a lecturer at universities on digital banking and FinTechs. He received a Master’s Degree in International Business Management at the Philipps University of Marburg, Germany and a Master’s Degree in International Business Strategy at INSEEC School of Business & Economics, France. In his spare time, he is a passionate FinTechs advocate and very recently started a blog (edgroell.com) to spread knowledge about—amongst other topics—the FinTechs industry and Data Privacy.
