Lisa has deep experience in law and public policy, and serves as the VP of Strategy and General Counsel for the Center for Democracy & Technology. CDT is a champion of global online civil liberties and human rights, driving policy outcomes that keep the internet open, innovative, and free. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, CDT works to preserve the user-controlled nature of the internet and supports laws, corporate policies, and technology tools that protect the privacy of internet users.
Before joining the nonprofit sector, Lisa spent a decade in private practice on the West Coast, where she was a partner in a Seattle law firm and general counsel to a start-up supporting the 1990s internet boom. While in private practice, Lisa served as lead counsel in more than a dozen trials and appeals, and successfully argued hundreds of motions.
