Don Schmidt Senior Program Manager Microsoft
Don Schmidt has been designing commercial system software for over 21 years. He is currently a Senior Program Manager in the Identity and Access Management Team in Redmond, where he drives the development of Active Directory Federation Services. Since joining Microsoft in 1995, Don has also been the Lead PM responsible for the design of Windows Server 2003 security features such as Forest Trust, Protocol Transition, Constrained Delegation and SID Filtering, plus the design of the Directory and Security subsystem of Site Server and the Microsoft Commercial Internet System. Prior to this Don worked as a Principal Software Engineer and then Architect at both Datamedia Corp/Accent Technologies (five years developing PC authentication, encryption and access control products for government and banking) and Wang Laboratories (seven years developing system software for PC-minicomputer distributed applications). Don holds a Bachelors degree in CS and Mathematics from the University of Southern Maine and a Masters in CS from Boston University.
