TRACK
Thursday, May 11, 2023 14:30—18:30
Location: C 01

As the world becomes more digital, and the right to privacy becomes enshrined in a growing number of laws and regulations around the world, organizations and governments increasingly have to pay attention to protecting the privacy of individuals in all their data handling and processing.

This decade may well be described as “the decade of the digital credential.” From COVID passports to mobile driver’s licenses, digitized credentials transforming to “born digital” credentials, and governments and large tech companies developing their own wallets, personal information has never been easier to share with the wave of a device. The convenience is amazing, and the privacy implications are terrifying.

In this track we will look at how the balance between security, convenience and privacy can be established.  The help that is provided by standards bodies such as the Kantara Group to meet these challenges of identity and privacy.  The impact of self-sovereign identity on the possibilities for individuals to reclaim autonomy and how governments are responding.
