Emerging Tech & Identity Fabrics IV

Emerging Tech & Identity Fabrics IV

Track
Thursday, May 21, 2026 14:30—16:35
Location: A 05-06

As digital identity ecosystems scale globally, the focus is shifting from defining standards to implementing them consistently and reliably across complex environments. This track explores how identity fabrics are being built in practice, where interoperability, conformance, and real-world integration determine success.

Sessions will examine the growing role of standards in enabling identity ecosystems, particularly in areas such as digital credentials and wallet-based interactions. However, standards alone are not sufficient. Attendees will gain insight into why conformance testing, certification, and consistent implementation are critical to ensuring that systems can interoperate securely across organizations and jurisdictions.

A key theme is the challenge of transforming existing identity environments. Many organizations are working with legacy IAM and governance systems that were not designed for today’s distributed, interoperable environments. The track will explore how these systems can be modernized, including migration to cloud-based architectures, consolidation of fragmented identity data, and the introduction of more structured and scalable governance models.

The interplay between architecture and governance is another central focus. As identity services move to SaaS and integrate with broader digital platforms, organizations must rethink ownership, accountability, and policy enforcement across technical and organizational boundaries. Sessions will highlight practical lessons from large-scale transformation efforts, including common pitfalls and strategies for maintaining security, compliance, and operational continuity.

Across these discussions, the emphasis is on execution. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how to turn standards into functioning systems, modernize identity infrastructures, and build identity fabrics that are interoperable, resilient, and ready to operate at scale.
