Emerging Tech & Identity Fabrics

Emerging Tech & Identity Fabrics

Track
Wednesday, May 20, 2026 11:00—13:05
Location: A 05-06

Identity systems are being pushed beyond their original design. Protocols, architectures, and governance models that have supported the internet for decades are now being tested by new demands such as machine identities, AI-driven systems, and highly distributed digital environments. This track explores how identity is evolving to meet these challenges.

Sessions will examine how established industry-standard protocols like OAuth and OpenID Connect are adapting to a world of non-human actors, automated interactions, and dynamic trust relationships. At the same time, new approaches are emerging that rethink how delegation, authentication, and authorization should work when identities are no longer limited to people, applications, and traditional service accounts.

A central focus is the rise of identity fabrics: interconnected, adaptive systems that integrate identity, access, and governance across cloud platforms, APIs, devices, and workloads. These architectures aim to move identity from a set of isolated controls to a continuous, context-aware capability that supports both security and agility.

The track also addresses the growing importance of understanding intent in identity systems. As automated actors and AI agents operate at scale, organizations must move beyond static authentication toward real-time evaluation of behavior, ownership, and purpose. Attendees will gain insight into how to build identity systems that are resilient, flexible, and capable of supporting emerging technologies while maintaining trust and control.
