The second part of the workshop focuses on helping participants understand their organization’s current IAM maturity and how to assess it in a structured and practical way. After a brief introduction, KuppingerCole Analysts present their maturity assessment methodology, explaining how it is derived from the Identity Fabric and Reference Architecture and structured through clear evaluation criteria.

Participants will learn how maturity can be assessed using both simplified (3-level) and more detailed (5-level) models, supported by practical examples that illustrate how individual capabilities are evaluated and positioned. The session also demonstrates how assessment results can be visualized and interpreted to better understand strengths, gaps, and overall positioning.

In addition, a customer presentation from Fressnapf Maxizoo Pet Retail provides practical insights into how the maturity assessment was executed in a real-world context. Participants will gain an understanding of the initial situation, the applied approach, and how the results were structured and interpreted. The session also highlights how these insights supported Fressnapf Maxizoo Pet Retail in planning their next steps on their IAM journey.

A key element of this session is the interactive “light” maturity assessment. Through a guided live survey, participants will jointly evaluate a selected capability, explore different maturity levels, and see how responses translate into a consolidated result. This hands-on exercise is designed to make the methodology tangible and enable participants to understand how assessments work in practice.

Through this session, participants will learn:

  • How to assess IAM maturity using a structured, framework-based approach
  • How evaluation criteria and maturity levels are applied to capabilities
  • How to interpret and understand assessment results
  • How interactive assessments can support alignment and shared understanding

By the end of this session, attendees will have a clear understanding of how IAM maturity assessments work, how to interpret the outcomes, and how to apply the approach within their own organization.
