Adapting to Evolving Threats: Identity as the Cornerstone of Cloud Defense at Scale
11:50—12:10

The modern threat landscape has made one thing clear: identity is at the center to achieve robust security, especially in distributed cloud based systems. Attackers increasingly exploit weaknesses in identity and access controls, through account takeovers, privilege misuse, and lateral movement, rather than targeting infrastructure directly. For organizations operating at scale, securing identity is no longer optional; it is the foundation of cloud security.

The talk shares experience building scalable cloud application security with special focus on identity and access management as the cornerstone across diverse application environments while aligning with zero trust principles. It showcases that the journey is not without challenges, especially in times of AI aided cyberattacks and cyberwar. Integrating heterogeneous systems, maintaining productivity, and adapting quickly to evolving threats required both technical innovation and organizational change.

Through real-world case studies, including well-known industry incidents, the talk will highlight how identity gaps could quickly enable major breaches and how robust governance and best practices, when implemented effectively, can close those gaps. Attendees can take away ideas to both strategic guidance for prioritizing identity in security programs and practical lessons learned for designing, deploying, and operating secure solutions at scale in cloud environments.

While monitoring, detection, and traditional defenses remain vital, proper identity management stands at the center of modern cloud resilience. Getting it right is critical not only for zero trust initiatives but for building trust in cloud security itself.

Cyber Resilience for IDM - A Practical Approach
12:10—12:30

Moving into the cloud raised expectations to finally leave the on-premises silos and all their problems behind. The complexity of hybrid scenarios, cloud-vendor-lock-in situations and heavy dependencies on centralized cloud services move problems to a next level. This talk will focus on building Cyber Resilience as a new approach to reduce dependencies and complexity focusing on IDM.

Key Topic:

  • A practical definition of Cyber Resilience
  • Costs and benefits of Cyber Resilience
  • Actors and Usecases for Cyber Resilience
  • ZT and Cyber Resilience
  • Useful building blocks and missing parts for Cyber Resilience for IDM
