The term “Email Security” stands for solutions that help in mitigating risks in exchanging emails. These risks arise from both incoming email and outgoing email. Today’s main risks are related to common cyberattacks, including phishing, ransomware, CEO fraud, and other attacks, where emails are used to provide fraudulent links, attachments, or email content. On the other hand, email security also is about avoiding insecure email being sent out, and information leaking via email.

Inclusion Criteria

Solutions that support email security capabilities covering the majority of above listed main capabilities to organizations of any size or industry, from SMBs to large enterprises.
Vendors must have active customers. Start-ups in stealth mode or without active customers are not covered.

Exclusion Criteria

Pure DLP solutions focused on outgoing mails are not in scope of this Leadership Compass.
Information classification solutions and SIS solutions that are not targeting email security are not covered. For inclusion, such solutions must cover email security and integrate with at least one of the leading email systems/clients.
Proprietary secure email systems without integration to at least one of the leading email systems/clients.
Pureplay email archiving or backup solutions.
Pureplay email continuity services.

However, there are no further exclusion criteria such as revenue or number of customers. We cover vendors from all regions, from start-ups to large companies.
