CIW EU Pre-Conf Workshop - Diverse Perspectives In Identity
- TYPE: Track START DATE: Tuesday, October 22, 2019 START TIME: 08:50
Humanity is incredibly diverse and building systems that everyone can use, particularly for identity is hard. When we build these systems what kind of information do we base them on when it comes to the users of those systems? Do we have empirical evidence of the challenges users face? And if those users are based in another country do we make assumptions or speak to actual users?
In this workshop we will discuss the diverse nature of the users we are building identity systems for and the impact having or not having an identity can have on users. We will run interactive group sessions on how bias might affect the products we build in identity, and what the pitfalls might be.
We will hear from a company in the field of biometrics are building and testing to ensure that bias doesn't affect their products. We will also understand how building more diverse teams can better equip us and identity professionals build better products and systems, reduce bias, and build more profitable businesses as a result.
This is an interactive practical workshop and attendee's will be participating throughout.
