Cloud computing transforms business and IT. The nature of this transformation is more of an intelligent symbiosis of enterprise IT and internet IT than traditional (r)evolutionary models. So we have to learn about successful drivers and solutions - economical and technical - of the major cloud pioneers like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Salesforce and VMware in order to understand and apply some of them.
In this talk, we identify some principles, why cloud providers so often build their own hardware and software stacks and understand the quite different economical and architectural underpinnings of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. Finally we derive, exemplify and recommend specific Dos and Don'ts for enterprises to find the sweet spot of their cloud adoption.
