Combating Online Fraud – BT’s Managed Fraud Reduction Service

Combined Session
Wednesday, May 11, 2011 15:00—16:00
Location: Alpsee

Managed Fraud Reduction provides a real time risk assessment of online transactions and is currently targeted at addressing card not present fraud. The Managed Fraud Reduction service developed in partnership between Oracle and BT utilizes a complete Oracle stack Middleware to the core component Oracle Adaptive Access Manager risk component which hosts the fraud rules. A single vendor stack strengthens the BT strategy around reuse that has driven the development of a SOAP exposure which can be consumed via web service calls or via a client IDE. The IDE client easing integration and abstracting the calling client from issues of the transport layer and its security. Oracle Service Bus hosting the exposure allows for routing and transformation of data which is providing BT the unique opportunity to augment data on a single request in real time. For example, using the service bus we are able to integrate URU (http://www.uru.co.uk/) for identity checks and Ethoca for credit card checks on the data presented in a transaction. This allows BT to use other services to enhance the number of factors already available in the risk assessment of a given transactions; user, location, device.
