There is growing understanding of the specific issues that need to be tackled to ensure greater trust in the cloud, such as security, privacy, governance, interoperability, and portability. Likewise, industry has undertaken a number of important initiatives, including standards development that will be vital in support of trusted cloud computing environments. This roundtable session will focus on new initiatives underway to address these issues and enable the deployment of large-scale, trusted cloud-based environments.
The discussion will include:
Information on the progress OASIS IDCloud has been making to address the creation, provisioning, management and transformation of identities across Cloud infrastructures;
How the OASIS Key Management Interoperability Protocol (KMIP) committee is working to achieve proper encryption technologies by defining a meta-system for interoperable key management standards, which is currently receiving broad industry adoption;
And a formal reference model for data privacy that is currently under development by the OASIS Privacy Management Reference Model (PMRM) committee, which is designed to work at technical, as well as public policy levels. With data privacy continuing to be the single most impediment to widespread Cloud adoption, the committee is dedicated to addressing the complexity of data that is owned by corporations and individuals, as well as the regulations at national, regional and vertical levels to ensure a successfully secure cloud environment.
