AI - Mankind's Last Invention?

Keynote
Tuesday, May 12, 2020 18:20—18:40
Location: AUDITORIUM

During the last 13 European Identity Conferences, human identities were always at the centre. With the increasing automation of business processes this is changing. Non-human identities are coming to the fore and are relieving people of tiresome work. This is the blessing that artificial intelligence is increasingly providing.

But the development will go on. It will unfold a force field in which old, familiar relationships will soon be realigned. Business processes that could not be fully automated before, will be reshaped, hereby disrupting entire established industries. By then we will feel the heart of the social consequences when the world of work, as we know it, will be no more. We need to find new social, political and philosophical answers.

Progressing further we may feel the real forces that we may have unleashed. Will we, like sorcerer's apprentices, one day be declared redundant by our own creation? Will a super intelligence finally bring us the age abundance? We give an overview of the state of the debate, the hopes and fears and philosophical speculations associated AI.
