User Centric Identity in Mobile Environments - Just an Illusion?

Combined Session
Thursday, April 24, 2008 10:30—11:30
Location: Helios

This talk will show that the aim of user-centric identity management to place the user in control of his personal data is an illusion. Stakeholders such as companies, authorities as well as attackers have a too strong interest in user specific profiles and context information. So, they usually have their very own view on what "user-centric" means.

However, there is concepts like privacy-enhanced personalisation which can help to enable the user to protect his privacy in specific situations. The second part of this talk, thus, will introduce some practical methods for user-centric identity management from an end-user's point of view.
