The closing keynote, there's a short review of the conference. And if the impressions we will then have the announcement and the selection in this case, I will can promise you, this will be fun enough later on to select the winners of the gamification that we have this year. And of course, then some final announcements. So a few remarks from my side, I've been moderating the keynote strolling through the sessions and following strolling a little bit also through the exhibition. And here are my takeaways, my personal takeaways of that conference.
The first one is about identity and access management. And the requirements of the digitization of the digital transformation makes it necessary to be much more flexible and to have an outside view and outside perspective on the identity management processes. And therefore our recommendation by our recommendation, my recommendation would be to treat identities like consumers like consumer identities. So this does not mean that I am in-house is not valuable.
It only means that the way you should approach the processes and the setup should follow the flexibility and possibilities that you have from a consumer perspective, two important aspects in that view, one is it's about the context. So we should be very much aware of the fact that the identity itself is only define well defined in a specific context. So context switches may actually induce different identities, and you need to know the relations of your identities. That's where the value is in the identity management.
The second, what I personally learned in these past three days is blockchain is an interesting technology, but block blockchain is not going to solve all problems of the world. So it's some kind of a D I was deified personally about the blockchain, but I also learned that it's a very valuable infrastructure that you can build applications upon, which may be necessary in that open, disconnected, interconnected world of things, and inter with open processes and open organizations. It's good for distributed scenarios without central authority.
So we, in some sense, it's a, it's a movement away from the PKI thinking and the central IM thinking that we had in last year. So this is something to deal with. We need to learn how to address that. And on the same side, the applications, the scenarios that we implement with blockchain must have added value to compensate the high cost. But some of them, some of you have recognized, and also mentioned this in the question, asked answer sessions and in some of the, of the breakout sessions as well, that the environmental cost of blockchain is not open ignition.
So we need to have that also in mind. And finally, my third takeaway is that cognitive security like cognitive computing overall is a game changer. So either you are in, and you're adapting this, or from a vendor as well as from a user perspective, or you're going to sooner or later having to, to lose the battle of security, the power, this cognitive security helps you to shift the power to the defense side and try gets allows one way of getting more balance in this attacker defense scenario in the internet security.
I also learned, but that cognitive security is not actually replacing people. And I strongly would support that. It helps people making a better job. So we should not fear too much what happens there, but we need to better adapt our organizations to deal with this new type of technology. One fourth topic was also big topic at a conference, namely, the GDPR, which needs to be, we all need to be compliant with GDPR next year in may. I didn't put it here because it's not a strategic topic. Nevertheless, I think it was the most important tactical topic of that conference.
This being said, these were my review comments, my impression of the conference. Therefore, I would like to switch to your comments. And as last year, our team has produced a small video. I Think that the conference has become more about innovation And it's always helpful to learn, you know, what's happening. What's new in the industry.
And I, as a security architect need to know what's coming up in the next three, four years, GDPR and PSD to anti-man laundering. I think that GDPR is the talk of the moment. This year in particular, I think the breadth of content has really impressed me.
Well, Ian Blazer's sock shots are always a highlight, but It's very interesting. So many people all over Europe and the world coming to ly time And the conference really does a very good job at keeping a small, good group of people and a good social environment for everybody Speaker 10 00:06:00 Here. And I think there's much more collegiality. In other words, I see a lot of interaction among the participants of the conference. I really love coming here, cuz I see so many friends every single year.

I can tell you that I discovered last night that the, the beer and MUN appears to be stronger than everywhere else in the world.
