- TYPE: Roundtable DATE: Thursday, May 16, 2013 TIME: 16:30-17:30 LOCATION: WALCHENSEE
The EU recently announced a broad cyber security strategy which will be accompanied by a Directive on Network and Internet Security (NIS Directive). The aim of this strategy is to to ensure a secure and trustworthy "digital life", while promoting and protecting fundamental democratic rights like privacy and data protection. The proposed NIS Directive has a similar layout like the critical infrastructure/cybersecurity program currently existing in the United States. However, it significantly exceeds the reach of U.S. critical infrastructure programs, and essentially leaves no private business outside the reach of the Directive.
In this session we will explore the effects this EU initiative will have with regards to critical banking infrastructures and create a checklist helping IT professionals in these industries on what they can do now to safeguard their IT Security investments.
