Stephen Gitahi

Stephen is currently the research coordinator in the IoT Research Lab @iLabAfrica Research and Innovation Centre focusing on IoT, wireless networks and big data. He is a technology enthusiast who loves spending time developing IT solutions and has pushes for the use of sustainable technology in improving processes and efficiency in solutions in Africa using embedded systems. Stephen leads the current team that is working on Environmental Monitoring on aspects such as Water Leakage, Water Quality and Air Quality in Nairobi, Kenya amongst other projects. Stephen is a distinguished researcher currently working on two projects; one on the technical implementation of a project on Disaster Prediction and Management in collaboration with two universities in Kenya funded by the Kenya National Research Fund and two, an ongoing research on Sustainable Urban Drainage practices. The project has already taken an international interest with the publication of this research work on the African Handbook of Climate Change Adaptation following successful presentations done in early 2020. Stephen champions the learning and use of emerging IT skills amongst the youth through the IoT Network Hub Kenya section whose activities he coordinates in Kenya.
