Three main (business) trends are driving technology in all areas: Social Computing, Mobile Computing and Cloud Computing. Looking behind the curtain, we see that these three trends with strong impact on everything around us are based on yet another trend, which is enabling companies to build their business models on top of services and features available through Open APIs (standardised application programming interfaces through which applications can connect to other applications). The impact of Open APIs on the way we do business is growing so fast, that we have to label it not just as a computing model, but as an emerging economy. In this webinar, KuppingerCole´s Senior Analyst Craig Burton will talk about the opportunities and risks of this Open API Economy, and about the impact it will have for your business.
Just as cloud computing is providing a way to both reduce costs of operation while increasing efficiency and maintaining a reasonable amount of control, it is becoming clear that the Internet has become much more than a mechanism for disseminating basic information and engaging in taking orders - e-commerce.
The Internet has become an efficient mechanism by which organizations can engage in efficient communications and operations with suppliers, partners and customers. In short the cloud computing movement cannot be ignored by organizations as the cost to benefit ratio is simply too high. Customers also cannot ignore the API movement. Proactively designing efficient supply- AND demand-chain systems is a must.
The entire industry is now moving towards exposing core competency to programmers, partners, customers and other constituents through APIs. The trend is so important to the current and future success of organizations that it is referred to as an "economy". The word "Open" is added in front of API and the API economy, to describe that these APIs are easily accessible and ready for high traffic.
In this webinar, Craig Burton will describe, why and how this trend evolved, where it is today and where it will leading us. He will also discuss the risks related to API based business and how to reduces these risks.
Determined cyber attackers will nearly always find a way into company systems and networks using tried and trusted techniques. It is therefore essential to assume breach and have the capability to identify, analyze, and neutralize cyber-attacks before they can do any serious damage.
