Friedel is working for the automotive industry since the early 1990s and is actively involved in this industry’s e-business standardization. On behalf of his clients he supports the activities of NIFIS (gIAM), ODETTE and the association of the automotive industry in Germany (VDA).

Friedel is or was a member of the advisory boards of e-Cl@ss, Euroforum and PROZEUS as well as a Vice Chairman of EDIFICE.
