Star Alliance

Mark joined Star Alliance Services GmbH in January, 2004 and since then has held responsibilities for IT Strategy and Architecture, IT Portfolio Management, and Technology Innovation.

In his current role as Director, Technology Innovation, Mark is responsible for identifying and supporting technology innovation opportunities across the Alliance’s 19 carriers. The goal is to leverage the combined technical resources of leading Star Alliance carriers and technology partners to address the challenges of the Alliance and the industry as a whole.

A technology professional with over 17 years experience in the airline industry, Mark spent twelve years with Air Canada prior to joining Star Alliance.

During that time, Mark led the development and successful launch of Air Canada’s online travel portal - Destina.ca. Prior to that, he was responsible for IT Strategy, among other things conceiving and promoting a Star Alliance extranet - STARNET. Mark also spent several years as an IT Security Specialist, developing Air Canada’s Corporate Information Security Policy, ensuring compliance with IT security requirements, and building corporate security awareness.

Mark holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

The Star Alliance network was established in 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance to offer customers worldwide reach and a smooth travel experience. In January 2008 Star Alliance received the Market Leadership Award from Air Transport World, the first time that the monthly magazine selected a global airline alliance for an award. Overall, the Star Alliance network offers more than 17,000 daily flights to 897 destinations in 160 countries.
