Mesaforte is a product of the Swiss firm wikima4. The product arose out of experiences from numerous projects. A series of customers has licensed it and it is being advanced within the scope of regular product development. By now, the solution, originally geared toward monitoring the security of SAP infrastructures, has a greater functional breadth. It targets the control and monitoring of access authorizations, security events, and configuration settings in SAP environments and other systems.
The current version, 3.0, has a three layer architecture with a web client, in which to begin with previous client components continue to be supported. Several functional modules, which are independent of licensing, are available within the product. The functions are, among others, access, governance, configuration management, and security management.
Mesaforte from wikima4 is thus an interesting solution for monitoring compliance controls, especially in SAP environments. Broad support for this is offered with the current version, for access controls and SoDs, as well as for the privileged user, and for other controls in the security protocols area and system configuration.
The development into an integrated controls monitoring system dealing with security-relevant controls, as well as with process controls and the CCM deserve positive mention. Thus many requirements can be implemented via a single tool.
In the process, one can certainly not expect to find all the detailed functions of specialized GRC solutions with focus on access controls and other security controls in the product. But the function scope offered is very good, and should suffice for most customers’ requirements. Enhancements can be quickly carried out due to the proximity of the manufacturer and the Swiss development location.
