Short Analysis: Omada Identity Manager

More Identity Management for MIIS
by Martin Kuppinger
mk@kuppingercole.com
With Omada Identity Manager, Omada provides a solution that integrates with MIIS to deliver many complementing features that are only available with MIIS after comprehensive coding. Among these are
  • Delegated Administration
  • Role Based Access Control
  • Workflow and approvals
  • Authorizations with time limits
  • Segregation of Duties
The administration is done via a graphical user interface, where all important adjustments are performed. Among these are the definition of roles and authorizations based on those roles. Furthermore, it is possible to define restrictions based on SoD rules.

The Omada solution is built entirely on Microsoft Technology. For example, this is apparent in the Forms, which can be defined with InfoPath. Meanwhile, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services is used when reporting compliance related information. All design features is integrated within the Product, including the creation of graphical workflows and the development of forms.

The product is conveniently designed for separate Production, Test and Development environments. This separation is in our point of view essential, but not available yet with many other Provisioning Products.

Omada expands the functionality of MIIS and enhances its absent features. From the viewpoint of Kuppinger Cole + Partner, the Omada solution is relevant in two scenarios. The first scenario is in system environments where MIIS is already deployed for technical integration, but still in need of functionality such as Delegated Administration, Role Based Access Control and SoD. The other scenario is when MIIS is being evaluated against other Identity Management products. A possible solution here is to package MIIS and Omada Identity Manager, and the result would be a solution that is comparable to other Provisioning Products from the market leaders.
